Nyack Center, Hopper House Most Likely to Receive Grant Funds

The village's CDBG committee selects most deserving projects

Nyack's has come to an end, and the village's committee has selected the organizations and projects they believe most deserve federal grant funds.

Nyack will compete with Rockland's 18 other villages and five towns for $2.2 million in grant funds. The money will go toward non-profit programs and public works projects.

The committee—headed by Marilyn Kaskel—ranked the Nyack Center's $31,861 bid to continue its computer program as the most deserving. The Hopper House's $15,000 application for a new roof was ranked second, and the River Rowing Association's bid for $25,000 to hire a full-time coach was third. Read about the other applications .

The village OKed the committee's rankings and placed at the top of the list. Since the Streetscape falls into the public works category, it will not affect or take precedence over the other three applications.
