Flag Day: How to Retire Stars and Stripes

Sen. David Carlucci launches program to retire flags

Thursday is Flag Day, and Rockland County residents have the chance to retire any aging stars and stripes the proper way.

Here's a message from Sen. David Carlucci, who has kickstarted a program to honor the annual holiday:

"In celebration of Flag Day this Thursday, I am pleased to announce that my office has launched a Flag Retirement Program. This is an opportunity for residents to donate any aged, torn, or damaged American flags in their possession to ensure that these flags are retired through a proper ceremony. All flags collected will be distributed throughout various American Legion Posts and VFW Halls in Rockland County. Anyone wishing to take part can drop off their flags at my office in Nanuet."
