A wake and funeral mass for Nyacker Erick Zayas—the 27-year-old —will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at in Piermont.
Arrangements are being handled by in Nyack.
Zayas lived on Jackson Avenue and worked at the 76 House restaurant in Tappan as a pastry chef, according to reports on LoHud.com. His brother Rudy Zayas also works at the iconic tavern.
Zayas was killed early Monday morning in a two-car accident on Rt. 9W in Upper Grandview. His BMW swerved into the oncoming lane, colliding head-on with a Lincoln Town Car.
When authorities arrived, Zayas had already died. The driver of the Lincoln, a Haverstraw man in his early-50s, was transported to with non life-threatening injuries.
A portion of 9W remained closed Monday morning as authorities carried out an investigation. Police have not released new information on what may have caused the fatal accident.
Several agencies responded to the incident and aftermath, including Rockland Paramedics, Organetown Police, Piermont Police and the Nyack Fire Department.
Just last week, the New York State Department of Transportation along the roadway, urging motorists and bicyclists to share the road. The new signage was motivated by a in June.
