Police: Heroin Arrest in South Nyack

Piermont woman also charged with driving while on drugs

A 35-year-old Piermont woman and 18-year-old New City man were arrested by after allegedly driving while ability impaired by drugs, authorities said.

The duo was also in possession of heroin and several hypodermic needles, according to police.

Tina Iskander and the teen were stopped on 9W near the Franklin Street extension on Saturday, Aug. 25. Iskander was behind the wheel, police said.

"We believe she was on heroin," said Robert Van Cura, South Nyack-Grand View's chief of police. "Apparently she'd used the drugs prior to driving the car."

Van Cura said officers first tested for alcohol.

Iskander was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

"She had a glass pipe generally used for smoking crack-cocaine," Van Cura said.
