Piermont Police: School Bus Safety Key

Authorities watch for dangerous drivers in pick-up areas.

As the 2013 school year begins, Piermont Police are on the lookout for drivers who aren't obeying school bus safety laws.

Local authorities are keeping an eye on 9W and local roads when South Orangetown School District buses are picking up and dropping off youngsters. The streets are more dangerous in the fall and winter months when it's darker in the morning, said Michael O'Shea, Piermont's police chief.

"Please pay attention, be alert," added O'Shea, advising motorists.
