Man Bitten By Snake at Hi Tor State Park

A 24-year-old New York State Parks employee was bitten by a snake -- possibly a venomous copperhead -- in New City Saturday morning, and taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment.

The reptile bit the man's left thumb at around 10:30 a.m. in Hi Tor State Park, officials told Patch. Next, the victim will be transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

Dan Keefe, a spokesman with the Parks Department, was unable to comment on the man's condition late Saturday afternoon.

Clarkstown Police dispatched an ambulance to the scene to aid park employees Saturday morning.

Last month, a dog was bitten by a snake in the same vicinity.
