Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Nyack House Fire

The fire occurred around 1 p.m. this afternoon

No one was injured Tuesday afternoon when a two-story home in Nyack caught fire.

The fire occurred around 1 p.m. on the second floor of a home on 89 North Highland Avenue.

An electrical shortage that started inside a wall may have caused the fire, Nyack Fire Chief Bob Booth said.

Firefighters extinguished the flames quickly, but it took longer to turn off the home's power; the breakers were in the basement and covered with refuse, authorities said.
