Dump Your Unneeded, Expired Medicine

Piermont Police are facilitating a program to safety dispose of old or unwanted medicine

Piermont residents will have a chance to safely dump unwanted, unused or expired medicine this Saturday.

The Piermont Police Department is working alongside the Rockland County Sheriff's Police Division, South Nyack/Grand View Police and others to sponsor Operation Medicine Cabinet.

The project is aimed at helping residents dispose of unneeded drugs in a safe and orderly fashion. Controlled and non-controlled substances are both fair game to drop off, and no questions will be asked, authorities said.

"There's been a nation-wide increase in the number of people abusing prescription drugs," he added. "It's a big problem—people have them in their homes, where kids can get their hands on them."

If you're looking to take advantage of the program, bring your refuse to the Piermont Police station this Saturday (Oct. 9) between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
