Portion of Rt. 59 Closed Due to Expected Flooding

Area generally sees flooding during major storms

A portion of Rt. 59 in West Nyack—from 303 to the Palisades Center entrance—has been closed to traffic.

The New York State Department of Transportation said the closure is a result of expected flooding. Read Patch's live coverage of Irene .

In March, a major storm dumped about five feet of precipitation on the same part of Rt. 59, totaling several cars and snarling traffic for hours. Watch a video of that flooding here.
