Nyack to Pay for Fourth of July Fireworks Display

Village will spend $7,500 on Independence Day festivities

Nyack is set to celebrate the Fourth of July with $7,500 worth of fireworks.

Village officials approved the idea last week, following a meeting centered on .

"We'll take the money out of the village's contingency fund," explained Richard Kavesh, Nyack's mayor. Last winter, the village to finance snow removal costs.

Nyack is set to purchase the rockets and roman candles from Garden State Fireworks. The last two years, Provident Bank donated $10,000 each Independence Day for the firework show, Kavesh said. The festivities are slated for the evening of Monday, July 4.

Village officials also noted the event may be co-sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Downtown businesses and organizations—like the and —have also expressed in interest in contributing.
