Teachers Tenured, Valedictorian Named

School district fetes teachers, students

Tuesday's Nyack school board meeting was less legislative and more celebratory.

School officials and board members named this year's valedictorian and salutatorian, and handed out tenure to a number of teachers. Dozens of friends and family were on hand with bouquets and applause.

"I'm in awe of all of you," said James Montesano, Nyack's superintendent. "The expectations of educators today are tremendous. And education is the finest profession."
