Hudson House May Offer Valet Parking

The plan is still in nascent stages; village officials are looking into the possible ramifications.

Hudson House diners may no longer have to worry about finding parking on busy evenings.

The Nyack restaurant, located at 134 Main St., has asked village officials' permission to offer valet parking to customers.

At a board meeting last week, Hudson House employees expressed a desire for patrons to be able to exit their cars by the restaurant and have an attendant park the vehicles. The valet lot would be located on South Franklin Street.

Walter Sevastian, the village attorney, noted valet parking may impede traffic.

"If the street ends up with queues of cars blocking traffic, it becomes a problem," he said.

But on the whole, village officials found the proposal appropriate.

"I can't see any problems the village would have, unless we received complaints from the police department or another business owners," said Steven Knowlton, a village trustee.

The idea is still in its early stages, and will be discussed further at future village board meetings.
