Nyack Alum Lands Role in New CBGB Movie

Nyack High School's Max Reinhardsen to play music-man Tom Verlaine

So much for the struggling actor stereotype.

Max Reinhardsen, who graduated in 2008, is just a few weeks out of college with his acting degree—and already secured a spot in an upcoming flick that spotlights legendary rock n' roll club CBGB.

The movie begins filming in Savannah, GA—where Reinhartsen attended the Savannah College of Art and Design—and features a cast that includes Alan Richman and Ashley Greene. Reinhardsen will be playing Tom Verlaine, the front-man of iconic '70s band Television.

"Our school has a student and faculty-run casting office," Reinhardsen said, noting the movie's director was seeking local actors. But looking the part of Verlaine and knowing how to sing and play guitar helped, too.

"At least I'll look like I know what I'm doing," Reinhardsen joked.

Reinhardsen had to audition for the role, and received a callback shortly afterward. A week later, he was offered the part.

"It was a shock," he said. "It's an amazing opportunity."

Reinhardsen will deliver two lines but snag screen-time in several other scenes, including on-stage shots. Filming for his part is slated to begin July 11 and run for two days, though he'll be on the set for a full week.

No stranger to the spotlight, Reinhardsen performed the lead role in 's The Phantom of the Opera his senior year.
