Remembering Camp Shanks, Helping Veterans

1) The ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of Camp Shanks at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the end of Piermont Pier will include the unveiling of a plaque marking the occasion  For more about this and other upcoming Camp Shanks events, check out this blog by Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart and this one by Orangetown Poet Laureate Rose Marie Raccioppi. 

2) Homes for Heroes will be collecting donated items for veterans from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesady in the parking lot outside Bed, Bath & Beyond at Palisades Center Mall. For more on today's effort to help veterans involved with the Homes for Heroes program, click here

3) Wednesday will bring a respite from dreary skies—sunny weather is expected, with highs hovering around 75. The UV index will reach "Very High," so pack sunblock if you're headed outdoors.
