Celebrate Veterans, Maloto's Anniversary

Whatever This Is: We're All In It Together
  • Where: Tappan Zee High School Auditorium on Dutch Hill Road in Orangeburg
  • When: Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov 9 at 8 p.m.
  • Cost: $5 for adults and students. Free to senior citizens.
  • Description: A performance presented by the Tappan Zee Players
Maloto's 6th Anniversary Celebration
  • Where: The Nyack Center at 58 Depew Ave. in Nayck
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 9 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Cost: $50 per adult, $25 for students under 18 years old
  • Description: Music, food and a silent auction will be part of this celebration of the sixth anniversary of the Nyack-based non-profit organization Maloto. Maloto's founder, Anna Msowoya Keys, will be honored. Mitchell Warren will serve as master of ceremonies and Meredith Brokaw will be a special guest. Motherland Rhythms and Dance will perform. Moloto helps develop and fund progams that feed, educate and empower children and women living in poverty in Malawi. Whiskey Night at CSI
  • Where: Congregation Sons of Israel at 300 N. Broadway in Upper Nyack
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Cost: $15 per person

Celebrate Veterans at the Walkway of Heroes
  • Where: The Walkway of Heroes at the intersection of Lester Drive and Independence Ave. in Orangeburg.
  • When: Sunday Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Description: Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart and Raymond W. DeMeola V.F.W. Memorial Post 1615 of Blauvelt invite residents to a brief ceremony at the Walkway of Heroes followed by a tour of the walkway. Camp Shanks Museum will open at 11 a.m. Stewart will lead a tour of the Nike Missle Base and Camp Bluefields. Read more on Stewart's blog here

United Hospice Holds Spin Benefit

  • Where: Jewish Community Center, 450 West Nyack Road, West Nyack
  • When: Sunday, Nov. 3 beginning at 11:30 a.m.
  • Cost: $25 registration and sponsorships suggested
  • Description: Spin for Hospice is a first volunteer-driven fundraiser initiated by a long-time Direct Care volunteer and volunteer committee to benefit Hospice. Get in shape and raise money for UHR at the same. Choose from three 45-minute classes: 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Adult Class, 12:30 p.m.to 1:15 p.m. Adult Class or 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Teen Class. All fitness levels are welcome. Contributors can sponsor a spinner or make a donation directly to Hospice. Pre-registration is suggested but not required. Weekend Visit to Nyack College
  • Where: Nyack College in South Nyack
  • When: Sunday, Nov 10. 
  • Description: High school students considering Nyack College can stay overnight in the dorms. The stay includes activities, meals and a classroom visit. Find out more here
