Wiffleball League Invites New Players to Join Free Games

So, your childhood dreams of becoming a Major League Baseball star didn't come true. Have faith, there's still a part of your childhood that can connect you with the game, but won't leave you will an assortment of aches and pains or worrying about what to do when an 80 mph fastball comes toward your head.

Wiffleball.

Yes, wiffleball. That game with the light-weight plastic bat and the mysterious plastic ball that takes a combination of artistic skill and sciencetific understanding to toss at a batter.

In Rockland County, the Palisades Wiffleball League has been keeping the game alive for adults to have some fun. Now, Palisades WBL is forming a four-team league that will play 12 games over six Sundays between May and July.  

To introduce folks to the adult version of the game, the Palisades WBL will cover all costs associated with this league. The league provides bats, balls and everything else needed to play Wiffleball.

While games are played in Rockland County, players have not been limited to Rockland and have also come from communities in Westchester.

Here's how it works:

- You'll play two, five inning games back-to-back on six Sundays.  

- Games take about an hour and will be played late morning/early afternoon.  

- The free League is open to males 16 and older.

The season for the regular Palisades WBL teams kicks off on Sunday at Cottage Lane in Blauvelt, with the games from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
