The Nyack girls soccer team will take to MacCalman Field with 10 returning starters for its opener 4:30 p.m. today against Putnam Valley.
Laila Blumenthal-Rothchild is the top loss from the team that went 9-8 in 2012, but the Indians have plenty of youth. Juniors Jen Farrell and Shannon Salerno and sophomore Oliva Munnelly are among the Indians' top returning players along with senior Tayo Tyler.
According to Head Coach Emily Dempsey, eighth graders Danielle LaRochelle and Dianna Juechter could also make an impact in 2013. She expects a season of close games once Nyack enters its league schedule.
"Everyone in our league is closely matched, so it will be a battle each and every game," Dempsey said.
