WET PAINT

Tappan artist, Sue Barrasi will exhibit a new body of work at the Dennis P. McHugh Piermont Library during the month of June. Most of these works were executed at an artist-in-residency program at the Arts Student's League Vytlacil Campus in Sparkill. The Vytlacil campus provides support to working artists in a studio based, atelier tradition and allows artists to create in a spacious setting while receiving weekly critiques and meeting artists from around the world. Director, Gary Sussman has created a heaven for artists to expand and grow. Ms. Barrasi was awarded the Ruth Katzman Scholarship for the residency.

"The residency ay Vytlacil provided such a wonderful atmosphere; it influenced my approach immensely." Originally Ms. barrasi had other paintings in mind for the exhibit at the library , but when Grace Mitchell, assistant director of the library, visited the open studios at the Vytlacil campus, she was so enthusiastic about the new series, they decided to hang the new canvases instead. The question was: could they be framed in time and more important....would they be dry?!

Ms. Barrasi is a graduate from the School of Visual Arts, a member of the Oil Painters of America, National Association of Women Artists, Hopper House Association, Artists in the Park and the Arts Council of Rockland. Ms. Barrasi has won awards, exhibited throughout the United States and recently received an Individual Artist Grant from The New York State Council on the Arts and the Arts Council of Rockland.
