The Clarkstown boy’s bowling team enjoyed success last year as the players from North and South went 124-23. Recently Patch caught up with Head Coach Corey Stahl to discuss this year’s squad and season.

As far as age and, more importantly experience goes, what type of team do you expect to have this season?

“Our Varsity team is returning five out of last year's nine players.  Four of these returners are seniors that have been on the team since they were freshman. We will be counting on all this experience to help our team and our new members to become successful. We expect to have a poised, seasoned team this year with aspirations of league and section championships.”

What were some of the weaknesses your team had last year that you hope to improve upon this season?

“Last year was the first year that North and South combined.  It was a semi-smooth collaboration.  This year they all know each other and there is great team camaraderie.  They are all great friends on and off the lanes and that really helps.”

Who are some of your returning players coming back who you see being big contributors?

“Our team is retuning five bowlers, all of equally strong ability.  What I love about our team is that at any time or game, anyone on our team is capable of leading us to a victory.  Not having to depend on one or two guys is what makes us so strong.  Coby Eiss (only returner that's a junior) and Jordan Griff have been working very hard in the off season to improve their 202 average from last year. Jake Isreal, Eric Jacobs and Andrew Feirman look to push there 190+ averages from last year into the 200 category this season.”

Who are some of your new players you are expecting to thrust into a larger role on the team?

“Our new varsity members include returning J.V. players Anthony Marseca (165 avg. last year) and Al Musiaro (174 avg. last year).  New to the Clarkstown Bowling scene this year is Freshman Brendan Murray.  These guys are the future of Clarkstown bowling and a gaining tremendous experience from our seniors.  They also provide this team with even greater depth.  I know I can depend on them when it's their turn on the lanes.”

How has the team been preparing in the off-season?

“All of our bowlers are in leagues during the off-season.  We've all been working hard on our spare game cause we know how much every pin counts.”

What are your goals for the season as a team?

“As a team, Clarktown's goals are to avenge a one point loss from last year to North Rockland for the league title and to repeat as Sectional Champions.  The team was not satisfied with a 9th place finish at state's last year.  Our goal this year is top 5.”

Are there one or two games circled on the schedule this season?

“All three games against North Rockland are absolutely circled and highlighted on our schedule.  They are our biggest rivals and strongest competition in the league. Last year we took 2 out of 3 from North Rockland but still lost the league by 1 point. We know that every match counts, and treat them all with great importance.”

What are you personally looking forward to this season?

“Personally, I hope for my team to enjoy their experience and be able to look back and be proud of what they accomplish.  I want them to look back without regret and remember how sports and athletics can be an enjoyable experience.  It would also make me very happy and proud to see my seniors go on to continue bowling on a college team.”
