Tappan Zee Students Win Awards in Poster Competition

Tappan Zee High School students won two first prizes and five awards in the Center for Safety and Change's 10th Annual Ending Violence Against Women & Girls poster competition.

Zoe Szmulewicz's "What Will You Do?" and Amanda Violetto's "We Wonder Why" tied for first place, with each student receiving a $500 first prize.

Three other student posters earned honorable mention, Sandra Goldstein-Lehnert's "Three Wise Women," Rachel Maggiore's "Roots of Abuse" and Ellen Xing's "At the Roots." Each received $100 prizes.

Tappan Zee got the Winning School award for Drawing & Painting and Advanced Painting classes' participation.

Student efforts were recognized at a reception and exhibition Tuesday at the Mandel, Katz and Brosnan Law Building in Valley Cottage.
