Nyack Schools Creates Citizens' Advisory Group

This Citizens' Advisory Committee will look at the district's facilities and report back to the school board. Those interested in joining need to contact the school by Friday, Nov. 9

At a Nyack Board of Education meeting earlier this month, Superintendent Jim Montesano requested the board establish a citizens advisory committee.

“The intent of this committee is to … look at the schools’ facilities and the conditions of the facilities,” he said.

Since then, the board has approved Montesano's request and established a Citizens Advisory Committee to review the long range facilities’ plan of the school district. The charge of this committee will be to review the needs and determine possible improvements to the District’s building and properties and offer input to the Board.

In forming this Committee the School Board recognizes that it can benefit from utilizing the talents and resources available among District residents to assist in this effort. The Board is hoping to attract a broad spectrum of residents, who will participate on the Committee and be available to meet for a limited number of evening meetings, beginning in November, during the current school year.

Any community member interested in becoming a member of this Committee should send a note to the Superintendent’s Office (jmontesano@nyackschools.com / 13A Dickinson Avenue, Nyack, New York 10960) by Friday, Nov. 9. The note should include some background information about themselves and why they are interested in participating on the Committee.
