Contractors Grind Up Nyack's Main Street

There's no traffic downtown, but it's still pretty noisy as heavy equipment rips up pavement.

There wasn't much traffic Monday afternoon in downtown Nyack, but it was still pretty noisy—but not from the music of bands at local clubs and pubs.

Construction crews are busy grinding up pavement on Main Street and Broadway for a repaving project that's going on through Wednesday. Although the work has made parking spaces on sections of Main Street and Broadway unavailable, the village has free parking from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the municipal lot downtown just off Main Street.

The street overhaul is part of the village's Streetscape initiative, which equipped downtown with new sidewalks, street lights and other infrastructure improvements.
