Valley Cottage Woman Charged with Illegally Obtaining Medicaid Benefits

A Valley Cottage woman has been indicted by a Rockland County grand jury in New City on a theft charge, accusing her of illegally obtaining Medicaid benefits.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said Giovanna Scarcella, 31, of 11 Marianne Lane, Valley Cottage, was working as a nanny as she collected the social services benefits from Aug. 24, 2009, to Aug. 23, 2012.

She is accused of third-degree grand larceny in connection with theft from the Rockland County Department of Social Services.
