Nyack To Thank Fire District Tonight

The Nyack Board of Trustees will be recognizing the work of the Nyack Fire District 7:30 p.m. at Nyack Village Hall.

They will be thanking the Nyack Fire Department including Chelsea Hook 7 Ladder Co. #2, Empire Hook & Ladder Co. #1, Highland Hose Co. #5, Jackson Fire Engine Co. #3, Mazeppa Engine Co. #2, Nyack Fire Patrol and Orangetown Fire Co. #1 as part of the board of trustees meeting at 7:30 p.m.

Nyack Mayor Jen Laird-White said the work of local firefighter to contain and extinguish the large brush fire on Clausland Mountain in Orangeburg in November, which called on departments all over Rockland County and the region due to its size and the difficulty of putting it out completely.

"It's an acknowledgement of how wonderful they are to all of us, especially in light of (Clausland Mountain)," White said. "What a great job they do."

There will also be a workshop session at 6:30 p.m. White said she asked the other trustees to come prepared to discuss goals and plans for 2014.
