South Nyack Man Indicted In $15,000 Theft From Gas Station

Money bag was taken from gas station on South Broadway in Nyack.

A South Nyack man has been indicted by a Rockland County grand jury in New City in connection with the theft of nearly $15,000 from a Nyack gas station.

District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said Thomas Sossi, 45, of 57 Elysian Ave., has been indicted on a charge of third-degree grand larceny as the result of an Oct. 1, 2010, incident.

Sossi is accused taking a money bag containing almost $15,000 from the office of the Citgo gas station at 80 S. Broadway, Nyack, while the station's attendant was away from the small booth that serves as the office.

Police said Sossi had become familiar with the gas station's operation. Police said Sossi fled the area and eventually was traced to Florida, where he was located and brought back to Rockland County for prosecution.
