'See Something, Say Something': Police Out in Force Today for Anti-Terror Effort

State, local police plan high-visibility presence today at transit hubs, major shopping areas.

State and local police plan to be out in force today with a now-familiar message for the public in the post-Sept. 11 world:

This high-visibility deployment at shopping and transportation hubs is part of an anti-terrorism effort that reminds members of the public that their help is needed — especially during the holidays — to thwart crime and possible terrorist plots.

The informational campaign uses Counter Terrorism Action Teams that are coordinated by state and local police in the area that includes Rockland, Orange and Sullivan counties. In addition to having increased police presence at train stations and malls such as Palisades Center in West Nyack, police will be conducting commerical vehicle checkpoints throughout the region.
