Woodland and hilly settings are beautiful places to live. But residents face the very real danger of wildfires, says the Red Cross. Here are a few of the items on their checklist.
- Learn about fire risks in your community.
- Talk with your family ahead of time.
- Have plans for meetups or calls to connect everyone.
- Have emergency supplies.
- Listen to radio and TV - sign up for alerts from your police or fire department.
- Make sure driveway entrances and house numbers are clearly marked.
- Close windows and doors to prevent outside smoke from getting in.
