Red Cross Offers Wild Fire Safety Tips

Woodland and hilly settings are beautiful places to live. But residents face the very real danger of wildfires, says the Red Cross. Here are a few of the items on their checklist.

  • Learn about fire risks in your community.
  • Talk with your family ahead of time.
  • Have plans for meetups or calls to connect everyone.
  • Have emergency supplies.
  • Listen to radio and TV - sign up for alerts from your police or fire department.
  • Make sure driveway entrances and house numbers are clearly marked.
  • Close windows and doors to prevent outside smoke from getting in.
Check out the whole checklist here.

Plus, now you can be ready for wild fires with the Red Cross mobile app for iPhone and Android devices: http://www.redcross.org/mobile-apps/wildfire-app
