Police: Lock Your Car Doors, Don't Leave Valuables In Car

Want to help fight crime tonight in your neighborhood? It’s simple: Take your valuables out of your car and lock your car doors.

say too many local residents are ignoring these simple steps and they are becoming crime victims.

Last night, at least four cars in Upper Grandview were left open and valuables including cell phones, iPods and cash were stolen. Police said the thefts took place some time between midnight and 6 a.m. along Route 9W.

Orangetown police today urged all residents to lock their car doors as a matter of routine. Also, police urge residents not to leave items such as phones, personal electronic devices, laptop computers, GPS units, wallets and pocketbooks in cars — even when they are parked at home.
