O&R Investigates Rt. 59 Gas Leak in Central Nyack

No flames, no closed businesses as a result of the leak.

A natural gas leak on Rt. 59 in in Central Nyack -- just east of Dunkin' Donuts -- had O&R workers out to investigate at about 4:20 p.m. Monday.

One westbound lane of the roadway was closed for emergency vehicle access, although no businesses were shut down. There were no flames at the scene.

Central Nyack Fire Department and Nyack Fire Department volunteers, along with police from Orangetown and Clarkstown, were on standby along Route 59 in the parking lot adjacent to the Nyack Trustco Bank branch. At about 5 p.m., firefighters were preparing to leave as O&R workers brought in more equipment to investigate the problem.

O&R crews were checking business from Dunkin Donuts to Hogan's Diner looking for gas leaks.
