Palisdes Center Mall Store Worker Accused Of $600 Theft, Using Customer Credit Cards

Police: Spring Valley man led cops on a chase through the mall, was captured in a mall garage.

An employee of a r store in West Nyack is accused of using customer credit cards to buy $600 worth of merchandise at the mall, according to .

Donald Rempart, 22, of Spring Valley, was arrested about 9 p.m on Saturday after he led police on a chase through the mall that eventually ended in a mall parking garage.

Police said a manager at at the mall reported that Rempart had taken two customer credit cards that had been mistakenly left in the store and he used them at two stores in the mall. Clarkstown Sgt. Harry Baumann said that as police officers were speaking with the store manager, Rempart saw the conversation taking place and he fled the store with a red backpack.

Police said Rempart dropped the backpack as he ran through the mall. Inside the backpack, police said, was merchandise and a receipt from a purchase that was made with one of the stolen credit cards.

A town officer who heard about the chase in the mall spotted Rempart in the garage and stopped him.

Rempart was arrested and taken to Clarkstown Police Headquarters in New City, where he was arraigned in Town Court and ordered held in the Rockland County Correctional Facilty in New City on $2,000 bail pending a hearing today. He is accused of fourth-degree forgery, fourth-degree grand larceny, petty larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
