Open-Container Violation Morphs into Drug Bust

A police officer saw Nyack resident Bryant M. Dickerson, 26, standing on Franklin Street just after midnight Feb. 15 with an open bottle of Hennessey cognac.

He headed toward Dickerson to give him a summons for violating the village's open container law, police said.

That's when he saw him take a plastic bag from his jacket pocket and put it, as the officer reported, "in his buttocks."

The officer switched his attention from the bottle to the bag.

Dickerson was arrested and taken to Orangetown Police headquarters in Orangeburg. The bag contained 20 more little zip-lock bags, each with crack cocaine.

Dickerson was charged with one felony count of Criminal Possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with the intent to sell and two counts of CPCS 5th degree, also felonies.

Police said they also recovered about $3,000—proceeds
from prior drug transactions—from Dickerson.

The Rockland Garden Apartments resident was arraigned in Nyack Justice Court and sent to the Rockland County Jail pending a future court appearance in Nyack Court.
