NYC Man Indicted on Burglary Charge in South Nyack Computer Theft

Laptop stolen from apartment, recovered when victim confronts man he recognized from previous encounter.

A New York City man who for an energy company  has been indicted by a Rockland County grand jury in New City on a burglary charge.

Joel Pastor, 25, of 125 Odell Clark Place West, is accused of taking a laptop computer from an apartment in South Nyack. He was arrested following an investigation by, with assistance from Suffern and Clarkstown police, and the Rockland County Sheriff's Department.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said Pastor is accused of going into the victim's apartment on April 11 without permission and taking the computer.

The victim was walking to his apartment and recognized Pastor from two weeks prior, when Pastor went to the victim’s apartment soliciting for an energy company. Upon arriving at his apartment, the victim discovered his computer missing.

The victim chased Pastor, Zugibe said, and found that Pastor had the computer. The victim was able to take the computer back from Pastor, Zugibe said.

Police launched an investigation when the victim reported the incident.
