Nyack Firefighters Stand Tall for Inspection

Today: They'll be judged by area fire chiefs. Inspection is a prelude to Oct. 6 Nyack fire parade.

Members of the Nyack Fire Department gather today at the firehouse on Catherine Street at Route 9W for a Chiefs Inspection.

Fire chiefs from other Rockland County fire departments will review the volunteers in their formal uniforms. The inspection is a prelude to the Oct. 6 Nyack Fire Department Chiefs Inspection Parade, in which Nyack volunteers and Chief James Petriello will host area fire departments as they show off their members and firefighting equipment.

The Nyack Fire Deparment, like all fire departments in Rockland County, is a 100 percent volunteer organization.

For information on joining the Nyack Fire Department, visit any of the eight fire companies that make up the fire department. To report a fire, dial 911.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
