John Hanchar Sr.: Happy 95th Birthday!

Family surprises veteran, volunteer firefighter with birthday celebration.

Members of the Hanchar family and friends surprised John Hanchar Sr. with a birthday celebration on his 95th birthday on Sunday at Rockland Lake.

John Sr. is a World War II veteran and a 76-year member of the Knickerbocker Fire Engine Company at Rockland Lake, joining in 1937.

The Knickerbocker Fire Engine Company presented Hanchar with a memento for his years of devotion to his family, community and the fire company.
