While Black Friday has become a new American tradition with shoppers looking for big bargains on gifts, it also is the day when the Christmas trees start showing up at Nyack firehouses.

Three companies of the all-volunteer Nyack Fire Department sell Christmas trees and wreaths during the holiday season to raise funds to support their units. A truckload of trees arrived Friday at Highland Hose Co. No. 5 at 288 Main St. in Nyack, with trees arriving today at Empire Hose Co. No. at 330 N. Broadway in Upper Nyack and at Orangetown Fire Engine Co. No. 1 at 90 Depot Place in South Nyack.

The trees vary in size and price and are available for sale daily at the three firehouses. When you pick out your tree, the volunteer firefighters will the bottom, wrap it up and help put in on your vehicle.
