Central Nyack Gas Station Robbed

Clerk at Shell station held up by lone gunman with his face covered by a bandana

today are looking for a lone gunman who held up a Shell gas station on Route 59 in Central Nyack early Monday morning, getting away with $800.

The clerk of the gas station at 53 Route 59 was approached by a man armed with a small handgun at about 2:45 a.m. The gunman demanded cash, which was turned over by the clerk, and the thief fled on foot in the area of Waldron Avenue.

The clerk was not injured in the robbery and police said no shots were fire. No arrest has been made yet in the investigation.

Police said the gunman was described as a black male, about 5-foot-7, wearing a multi-colored bandana over his face. The thief, police said, wore a red baseball hat with white lettering, a black hooded sweatshirt with white lettering, white gloves, dark jeans and white sneakers.

Police ask that anyone with information about the robbery contact them at 845-639-5800.
