Wake for Richard Capper Set for 5-9PM Feb. 25

Richard E. Capper, 49, died suddenly on February 16, 2014 of complications from Marfan's Syndrome while at work in Harriman State Park. 

Richard was born June 9, 1964 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Doris (Marbach) and Richard Capper Sr. Richard moved to Rockland County in 1981 to live with his aunt, Ann Capper Ashe, Uncle John Ashe and their family. 

Upon receiving an Associate Degree from Rockland Community College, he was employed by the Palisades Interstate Park Commission where he recently was awarded a Twenty Year Appreciation Service Award.

Richard was a Certified Emergency Medical Technician who for the last 20 years volunteered and worked for the Haverstraw Ambulance Corps. He was the recipient of the Captains Appreciation Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the town of Haverstraw for Meritorious Service. 

Richard is survived by his first cousins Jeanmarie Caputo of New City, Christopher Wolf of Brooklyn, Uncle John Ashe of Pomona, stepmother, Maria Capper of Malvern, Long Island, cousins, Michael Ashe of Cherry Hill, NJ, Robert Ashe of Poughkeepsie, NY, Kathleen Babcock of Charlotte, NC, Patricia Nashelsky of Rye, NY, also first cousins; Gail, John, Richard and Suzan Marback, Carole Nunziato and close family friend Karen Hanusek and Paula Conroy his friend of many years.

A wake will be held to celebrate his life on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 5pm to 9pm at George M Holt Funeral Home, 50 New Main Street, Haverstraw NY.

 Richard’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 10 AM at St Peters Church, 115 Broadway, Haverstraw followed by burial at Mt Repose Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Haverstraw Ambulance Corps or to Marfan's Syndrome Research.
