Nyack Native, Calvin Parker Sr., Passed Away

The following information was provided by the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc.-

Calvin Parker Sr., 60, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Nyack Hospital after battling a long illness. Calvin was born in Nyack on August 27, 1953 to the late Clifford Parker Jr. and late Elizabeth Parker. He was predeceased by his brothers Roger Parker Sr. and Wayne Parker Sr. 

He worked 35 years at the Yaboo Fence Company until he became disabled. Calvin was a very outgoing person, and loved by many in the Nyack community where he grew up. 

Calvin is survived by his son Calvin Parker Jr. of Nyack, N.Y. and daughter Alyce Parker-Moore (Larry) of Hot Springs, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Mackenzye, Mykela, Julius, Brady, Tony and Joey. He will be dearly missed by his seven siblings, Sharon Parker, Nora Fleetwood (Arthur), Veloura Parker, Louise Parker and Minerva Parker, all of Nyack, and Clifford Parker III (Carolyn) and Brandon Parker (Tracy), both of Spring Valley, N.Y. He is also survived by an uncle, Morris Parker of Walkill, N.Y., an aunt, Barbara Eaton of Nyack, N.Y and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive visitors on Friday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at St. Philips A.M.E. Zion Church in Nyack, NY. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 am at the church.
