My Love Affair... with Nyack

What is it about Nyack that makes it different than any other place in the area? Is it the locale, the people, the shops or the memories?

Welcome to my first attempt at "blogging." For those of you that do not know me, I'm -- psychic and author at Mind Over matter. January 2012 will mark the 10th year tucked I've been away in my little shop at the Nyack On Hudson Mall ( 85 South Broadway Nyack).

It was always a dream of mine to have a shop in Nyack, and I  have been truly blessed! The diversity and beauty of our village is not only perfect for what I do, but to be part of the community that holds so many childhood memories, is in a way honoring my "ancestors" and keeping their spirit in the village they loved so much.

Stealing a look back in time, I can remember running down Main Street with my uncles from my Granny's house to the Reliable Market to get ice cream; strolling along the beach At Hook Mountain on a warm summer's day picking up drift wood and even wading in the  then-pristine waters of the Hudson River. Then there were the Fireman parades just like there are today, but back then my daddy marched proudly with his department. (Don't recall the year but I do remember meeting up with dad after a parade down on South Franklin Street, where there is a small strip mall now- but once stood a huge grand old Oak tree, and that tree has stayed with me all these years.)

In the 1960s I danced the nights away at Ye Olde Saloon (where Sew Whats New is today). Somewhere back in time my love affair with this quaint river town began! Fast-forward to the present day and thinking perhaps a bit like a business woman, I wonder what memories visitors to our enchanted village take along with them. If they too fall in love with the tree-lined streets, the beauty of the Hudson, or the interesting people of Nyack.

Do you have a special Nyack memory or a favorite spot? I'd love to hear!
