A Summer Afternoon in Rockland

As I sit here in my room trying to think of a good way to start off this blog, I can't help but to think of activities that will later consume my afternoon. Since I live in Haverstraw, a strong possibility is taking my sister and cousin to the town pool. Bowline, our town pool, is simply breathtaking, but I try to tell my parents I am not a bulit-in babysitter and I would rather spend my day with my friends. That being said, I am pondering ideas for my friends and I to do this afternoon.

I like to refer to my friends as the "Core Four." Together their are four of us who love each other and would do anything for each other. I recently lost a family friend, and it was really hard on me. My friends really supported me during this time. It seemed like my friends knew the right time to give me a hug or make me laugh. That is what true friends do, and I am so lucky and grateful that I have three truly amazing friends!

As I look outside this, I don't see the sun. I suggest to the Core Four that we go see a movie, perhaps Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. )This PG-13 movie received 4 out of 5 stars.) It didn't take much convincing so it looks like the Core Four is heading to the Palisades Mall. (Or, if we need to save a couple of dollars, it would be a good idea to head to Clearview in New City. With your Optimum Card you get discounted tickets!)

What if your not a movie person? Not to worry because Rockland offers a wide variety of activities to do. If you are a art person, go check out Julie Scholz who is showing at Flywheel Gallery in Piermont. I'm going to admit art is not my favorite thing—but it couldn't hurt to try new things.

So whether you take your sister to the town pool or go check out some art, remember that this is a taste of what Rockland has to offer.
