Local Officials Get Saucy for People to People

Nyack Mayor Jennifer Laird White and Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco will face off with other local officials Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Nyack Seaport, but it will have little to do with the political debates so common this time of year.

It will be all about the sauce, or gravy, depending on what you call it.

A friendly teasing about who makes the best spaghetti sauce turned into a competition, with those going hungry locally the ultimate winners. The proceeds from Wednesday's dinner/competition will go to People to People, the Rockland County food pantry.

White and Falco invited others to join in the challenge, including Orange & Rockland Utilities Director of Public Affairs Tom Brizzolara, Dominican College Vice President of Institutional Advancement Dorothy Filoramo and Rockland County Clerk Paul Piperato.

Itailian Chef Marcello Russodiviito will join the panel of local chefs judging the competition. Dinner costs $65 and will include Italian breads, salad, antipasto, a buffet featuring all of the competing sauces with pasta, Italian pastries, wine, beer and soft drinks.
