Golf Outing Raises Thousands for Nyack Hospital

Despite the dreary skies and gusty winds, more than 132 golfers putted the day away at the Rockland Country Club in Sparkill on May 13 to help raise funds to improve service for patients in Nyack Hospital’s emergency department.  

More than two-dozen sponsors came together to join The Nyack Hospital Foundation in hosting its annual Golf Classic, which raised $164,000 for the emergency department’s expansion. Mercedes Benz of Nanuet helped to boost the playful competitive spirit of the day by giving golfers the chance to win a 2013 Mercedes Benz at the hole-in-one.  

Nyack Hospital’s Emergency Department, which has been recognized for reducing patient wait times and was awarded the Press Ganey Compass Award for emergency room patient satisfaction, plans to further enhance the patient experience with the proposed improvements.  

The expansion will allow hospital staff to meet the level patient emergency visits, which has increased by 20 percent over the past two years. The emergency department was initially designed for 35,000 visits per year and saw almost 60,000 patients in 2012.  

The infrastructure and technology upgrades will also improve the facility to meet the demand for exceptional care in the emergency department. Nyack Hospital’s Emergency Department is a New State Level II Trauma Center, a New York State Department of Health Stroke Center and has a Pediatric Emergency Department, with staff who specialize in pediatrics.
