15th Annual 'Taste of Nyack'

Enjoy a sampling of Nyack's finest cuisine at the Rockland County YMCA's Taste of Nyack, Tuesday, June 14.  Proceeds provide program and membership scholarships for children of low income families.  The event begins 6 p.m. with a shotgun start. "Tasters" will have an opportunity to visit each of the 13 (at press time) participating restaurants and enjoy a sampling its fare.  Dessert and the drawing of complimentary gift certificates will follow at 9:30 p.m. the Nyack Seaport. 

At press time, participating restaurants include (in alphabetical order):  Black Bear Saloon, Casa del Sol,  Hudson House, Lanterna,  Madison's, Olive's, Palmiere Wine and Spirits, Pour House, Spice of India, Temptations, The King & I, Two Spear Street, Velo.

Cost for the evening is $40 per person.  Reservations are required, as a limited number of tickets will be sold.  All tickets must be paid for prior to the event.

Proceeds from this event will enable the Y to continue to help children of low income families by providing: annual membership scholarships for youth and teens; child care and after school care tuition assistance;  camp scholarships;  dance classes; aquatics programs; Kids Clubs; sports and fitness programs; and affordable and accessible programming for all ages

In 2010 the YMCA served 3,800 boys, girls, men and women at 27 locations in diverse communities throughout Rockland County.  The YMCA is now serving over 1,200 children per day in its early childhood and school age programs, throughout the five towns of Rockland County.

Last year, 513 youth and 111 adults of low income were aided, thanks to the generous support from contributors,  and proceeds from special events such as the Taste of Nyack.
