There is a tendency in this genre to lean toward the sentimental. This
course will help students learn how to write about personal experiences
in an intimate yet unsentimental way. Using Certain techniques, such as
writing from different points of view, students will find the balance
between delving into emotional truths and using the tools of writing to
craft a piece that will not only be intensely moving but will hold its
own as a piece of writing.
