holding a Cash
& Carry Tag Sale
and welcomes the community to join our FUNdraiser
day of shopping benefiting our brave Veterans!
Spend a day at historic Camp Shanks and see how far we’ve progressed on
Saturday, September 7, 2013, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., at 335 Western Highway, Tappan,
NY (rain or shine).
Homes for Heroes, a
501[c]3 not-for-profit, is in the final stages of building rental apartments
that are being built specifically and only for our honorably discharged,
disabled and displaced, men and women Veterans, who will be referred by the
Veterans Administration. The apartments are under construction on Camp Shanks, in
Tappan, N.Y., from which over 1.3 million GI’s left to fight in Europe during
WWII. The site will always serve as a
living memorial for those who did or would die for us. Now, 70 years later, historic Camp Shanks can
be a welcoming home for the men and women Veterans who did and will return
damaged and wounded in mind and body and spirit from our longest war.
If you would like to
donate items to be sold at the tag sale, please bring them on September 7th. Volunteers will also be on hand at the Homes
For Heroes site on Western Highway to accept items ahead of the sale on the
following days and times: Wednesday,
September 4th (1p.m. - 4p.m.), Thursday, September 5th and Friday, September 6th (5p.m. - 7p.m.). If you need to make a donation at another
time, please call Margaret Fitzpatrick at 845-634-5686 to make arrangements for
a drop-off. We will accept small pieces
of furniture to be sold, but you must deliver it yourself on September 7th only. Items not sold will go to other charities or
discarded. If you wish to keep a donation if not sold, please pick it up by 4
p.m. on the day of the sale.

Veterans and neighbors get a fresh start at life, who will be coming to Homes
