Grand Opening for Nyack's New Saturday Farmers' Market

Good news for foodies, friends and families: the Nyack Chamber of Commerce proudly extends its highly successful Thursday Farmers’ Market to Saturdays beginning on June 7 at 8:00am. Nyack’s first-ever Saturday Farmers’ Market builds on a 17-year commitment to local farmers and specialty food producers, drawing crowds of shoppers to the Village every week, both outdoors in the warm months, and indoors in winter.

Opening ceremonies and formal ribbon-cutting will take place at 11:00am on June 7.  The Chamber will preside and will be joined by Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart, who will be on hand to officiate and sample the Market’s offerings. Live entertainment and fun for the kids will add to the festivities.  A new feature will allow shoppers with EBT (food stamp) benefits to use their EBT cards at the Market.

Music will be provided from 9:00am to 11:00am by acoustic guitarist/vocalist Jesse Frayne.  Jeff Doctorow, guitarist and curator/host of ArtsRock’s popular “Guitar Magic” series, will perform from 11:30 to 1:00 pm with colleagues from The Old No. 7 band, including Lorena Mann on vocals and Jim Kimak on saxes.  Bill Batson, the Market’s artist-in-residence, will add his usual touch of creativity to the proceedings, as will caricatures and face painting offered by Silly Pencils and Jamie’s faces.

Best of all, the  Market’s 19 vendors will offer a copious, farm-fresh Spring harvest along with other delights— including cut flowers; free-range eggs; fresh pies and baked goods; honey and maple syrup; specialty teas; artisanal soaps; fine local wines — and more.  For our very best friends, homemade gourmet dog treats will also be on offer every week.
