Rain Doesn't Stop Santa From Lighting Christmas Tree in West Nyack

Families crowd West Nyack village green for holiday party.

A light but steady rain could not keep Santa away from West Nyack on Friday night.

With the help of the West Nyack Rotary and the volunteers of the West Nyack Fire Department, Santa lit a Christmas tree and was the host of a community holiday party on the village green on West Nyack Road - just across the street from the West Nyack Post Office.

While Santa was a big hit with the kids, so was Hokey Pokey, a miniature horse from nearby Nickel-O Farms that give Santa a ride to the party.

The event was a collaboration of Rotary, Heritage of West Nyack, West Nyack Elementary and Strawtown Elementary schools and the 4H at Nickel-O Farms.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
