Preparing For Thanksgiving – What’s Open & Closed

Nyack schools close on Thursday and Friday and government offices, including the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center, remain open the whole day and close Thursday and Friday. Know of something that's closed? Tell us in the Comments Section.

 

Here is a summary of what is open and what is closed during the next three days.  

The Nyack School District closes all day Thursday and Friday.

Libraries:

  • West Nyack Free Library will close at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and is closed on Thursday. 
  • Piermont Public Library will close on Thursday and Friday
  • Valley Cottage Library will close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday and is closed on Thursday
  • Nyack Public Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and is closed Thursday and Friday. It reopens at its regular time of 10 a.m. on Saturday. 

Rockland County government offices are closed on Thanksgiving Day and open for regular hours on Friday. The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at Provident Bank Park in Pomona will be closed Thursday and Friday.  It will reopen on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Clarkstown and Orangetown Town Halls will be closed Thursday and Friday.

There will not be any garbage or recycling collection in Clarkstown and services will resume on Friday. In Nyack, household trash pickup will be suspended on Thursday and Friday.  Normal household trash pickup will resume on Monday, November 26.

Leaf pick up in Nyack will continue until complete.  As the volume of tree debris left from Hurricane Sandy has slowed the process of leaf pickup, the village has brought in private firms to help increase tree debris removal in the Village.

Public transportation services will operate on revised schedules during the Thanksgiving holiday.
