This Halloween may be a white one for the river villages.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch from Saturday morning through Saturday night for the lower Hudson Valley, including Rockland County.

Weather officials are anticipating heavy, wet snow with accumulations of one inch to eight inches. Winds will be northeast from 10 to 20 miles per mile with gusts up to 30 miles per hour resulting in visibility of less than one mile at times. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 30s.

According to the NWS, a mix of light snow and rain will begin Saturday morning with accumulations of one to two inches and change to all snow by late afternoon. Overnight snowfall could accumulate two to four inches. Travel could be potentially hazardous due to road conditions and tree limbs falling from the heavy wet snow.

Despite the early timing, local municipalities are gearing up and prepared to clear the roads, officials said.

"[I] never thought I'd have to alert our residents that our DPW will be ready for a snow storm in October, but I am and they will be," said Richard Kavesh, Nyack's mayor.

Last winter, Nyack had to in Memorial Park.
