Medical Chopper Lands at Old Nyack HS

Helicopter headed to Hackensack Medical Center

at the old Nyack High School football field received an unexpected interruption.

A medical helicopter landed at the field at about 4 p.m. to pick up a patient from for transport to Hackensack University Medical Center.

The teams had to get off the field and members of the Nyack Fire Department and Orangetown police were at the field to secure the site as a landing zone.

After picking up their patient, the medical flight team and its pilot took off without incident at 4:30 p.m. In addition to the lacrosse players, the helicopted landing attracted spectators from Nyack Hospital and the neighborhood around the hospital.

The helicopter is part of a recently-launched program at Hackensack University Medical Center.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
